This IIC Nordic Group website has been created as a common active forum for the national conservation organisations of the five Nordic countries, which together constitute the Nordisk Konservatorforbund (NKF), also referred to as the “Nordic Association of Conservators”. Nordic members will have access to online publications. In addition, members will be able to contribute news, information about courses, seminars and conferences, and initiate discussion. The goal of the NKF website is to strengthen and stimulate the common Nordic network in an informative and user-friendly way. With financial support from the "Nordisk kulturfond" and "Kulturkontakt Nord" this website has been expanded with more functions and a new design in August 2008. The Nordic Association of Conservators was established in 1950. It consists of five membership associations (referred to as “Sections”) of conservation professionals in public and private practice in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Nordic Association of Conservators is a regional group of The International Institute for the Conservation of Artistic and Historic Works (IIC), and is referred to as the IIC Nordic Group. Moreover, four Sections of NKF are members of the umbrella organisation The European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers Organisations (E.C.C.O.). On this website one will find information about activities of common interest for Nordic members. The five national Nordic conservation associations are represented, and one can find national information in the individual Sections’ membership publications: Bulletin (Denmark), Konservaattoriliiton lehi (Finland), Konserves (Norway) and Realia (Sweden). Furthermore, one has access to the common membership peer-reviewed journal, Meddelelser om Konservering (MoK), which is published twice each year. There will be a mailing list and discussion forum where members can send messages to one another, put forth opinions for discussion or seek information from colleagues in the Nordic countries. The activity of these pages is up to NKF’s own members and others with an interest in conservation in and outside the Nordic countries. There will be links to international organisations and websites of general interest for conservators. All members are encouraged to contribute to the “Link” page of the website by adding the website addresses of relevant websites.
